In Noah Haidle’s Vigils, directed by Erica Weiss, a young widow keeps her deceased fireman husband’s soul in a box by her bed, but then has to make a tough choice when the possibility for new love comes into her life. Dreamingly interweaving in and out of memory, we relive moments from the widow’s past, including the meeting and courtship of her husband, played by two actors portraying The Soul and The Body.

Actors were filmed on green screen and edited into projections where live actors encountered their projected double, and the character of The Child was entirely portrayed in projection.

“Beyond the acting, the show succeeds due to the marvelous tech work… Anna Henson provides heady projections that transport us to a throbbing dancehall, burning building, or rolling meadow at a moment’s notice.” – Chicago Theatre Beat
