Moonlit: Extended Theater

Moonlit Immersive Experience Video Documentation
ROLE: Assistant Professor of Emerging Media Arts, Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Moonlit was a collectively devised immersive theater production created for public audiences by students in my Extended Theater course at the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts (University of Nebraska–Lincoln). Undergraduate EMA students and MFA Theater Design candidates collaborated to design and build an original, multi-room interactive environment integrating experience design, worldbuilding, experimental performance, scenic and projection design, sound, lighting, and emerging technologies. Emphasizing audience agency and embodied exploration, the experience invited guests to move through a narrative world rather than observe from a distance. Industry mentors from Meow Wolf contributed professional insight, and the project culminated in a ticketed public run that transformed university space into a temporary community cultural venue, demonstrating how interdisciplinary education can generate ambitious, inclusive immersive art for broad audiences.
